WIP Wednesday {Oct. 24, 2012}
This week I made a Fall Table Topper for my parents. I used the D4P pattern then added some gold leaves into the machine embroidery. Happy with the outcome...
Here are some in process photos:
I also continued to work on my tote bag. I now have the front and back complete and quilted onto the base.
Looking to add lots of pockets to the lining! I am also trying to figure how I might add some threadwork to the handles as I think the added texture will make the overall look of the tote more interesting??! More to follow!
Continuing with my Creative Conglomeration updates -
This is a picture of my Fiber Art Challenge #3 Reveal:
Hope you are enjoying your Fall!

Here's the completed Table Topper - I like how the striped binding works with the other fabrics to bring the fall colors together. |

I added gold leaves to the surface of that quilt as I was freemotion quilting. |

I'm adding the canvas bottom next then it's
on to the inside.

This was my first attempt at Cathedral Windows. I was trying to create the image of Sunshine through a window in this piece. I actually pieced 2 identical quilts to use in the 'windows' in place of the standard solid pieces then I cut one quilt up into squares to use inside each of the blocks then cut up the other into diamonds to use between the blocks. Turned out to be much more involved than I thought :) but then these creative challenges usually are! Check out all the 3rd challenge quilts!
Hope you are enjoying your Fall!

WIP Wednesday {Oct. 17, 2012}
Last week I didn't post but I did enter a quilt into Kate's ALQS7 (Another Little Quilt Swap 7)
View all 57 Beautiful Quilts! in the Swap: http://anotherlittlequiltswap.blogspot.com/
Thanks Kate - can't wait to see who's wonderful quilt makes it's way to me :)
This week I worked... a little... on my Tote bag - the other side... Having just finished the quilt above I decided to make something along the same lines for my tote but this time I would have the inside of the circle be a constant fabric. The second side of the tote would be completely different yet similar = two bags in one!
Here is the other side in process... I'm playing with the drunkards path blocks....
Here's the front from a prior blog:
I hope to have the entire bag together this weekend. I plan to add a canvas bottom to make it more durable and LOTS of pockets inside to organize all my stuff! Stay tuned! I'll update when I finish :)
This is a picture of my Fiber Art Challenge #2 Reveal:
This is a picture of me explaining my piece just before revealing:
This is a closeup of the back of the piece...
The back of this piece shows only the stitching used to add the tiny green leaves to the tree! Think I may have learned something along the way here about Thread Play! But then that is what our group, The Creative Conglomeration, is all about!
I have just started working on my design for CC#7. Hint - plan to use a lot of Free Motion Machine Quilting.... More to follow!!
Thanks for stopping by! Have yourself a great week!

WIP Wednesday {Oct. 3, 2012}
Been missing....
Actually it has been a LONG summer! I know - it ended in August and here it is October... The addition of a Boat to our 'family' made my summer LONG on Fun but quite short on Sewing...
I have completed a few things this summer and will do a bit of a 'show and tell' as I blog this Fall...
I have been involved with a great Fiber Art group since the beginning of 2012. We have had 6 Creative Challenge reveals. This has been great for my creativity. Each project has been a reach beyond my comfort zone and I've enjoyed every one! I am in the process of my 7th challenge so I will show you the completed ones over my next few blogs.
Reveal #1 Cobalt blue at 10 feet:
Funny - I was going through the files and realized that I had drawn this one out! Color of the lettering is off but otherwise it's pretty much how I envisioned it!

For my Current WIP I am working on an original Tote Design.
This is the panel I have created for the front of the bag. (That's it on the design wall.)
This is made using my new block named 'Mason's Block'. I first made it for my son's graduation quilt. I seems that I came up with a new block in the process of making his quilt which I am finally done!!
I will post pictures soon of the completed quilt as the pics are in my hubby's camera.
2-block sample "Mason's Block" |
I plan to post a tutorial on an easy way to make this scrappy block.
I am also working on a pattern for various sized quilts. :)
Narrowing down my WIP as I am working on organizing my 'universe' and in the process I have separated my WIP's from my UFO's
(Unlikely to be Finished anytime soon Objects). I'm gearing up to spend some time on the UFO project with Leah Day.
WIP = actually out and being worked on...
UFO's = Tops completed, projects in the 'pile,' etc...

WIP Wednesday #21
Little projects here and there but nothing BIG complete or worked on this week...
I started quilting the wedding present that I am working on and found that the backing wasn't laying flat so I un-pinned and re-pinned my 'sandwich' to make sure it was flat with no wrinkles... Have to say that 'un-pinning' is right up there with 'un-sewing' on my list of favorite things to do!! Augh! It's ready to go again and I plan to quilt it on Sunday!!
Over the past week I completed several blocks for the Comfort Quilts at my guild SVQG. Here are a couple of pictures.
2-12"x12" finished size |
9 of the 10-6"6" finished size |
Can't wait to see what they do with all the different blocks our members create!
The big reveal of our SVQG 2012 Mini Challenge Quilts is at a Pot Luck on Thursday evening! Can't wait :)
Here's another little peek at mine :)
