Fun belated baby quilt!

Our friends had a baby a year ago and I finally got a quilt done for them.

This was made with the cutest Crayon fabric using the DNP block.

I added borders of the primary Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow.
Found this fun matching Stripe fabric for the back.
Lisa @ Garden Gate Quilting machine quilted this fun pattern.
Love how it looks like a scribble ;)

One more item off the WIP list! Of course I added 2!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Dresden plate and DHG chair pad - pillow!

Did you ever just 'need' a finish?!

Well I did!
I grabbed a couple of favorite blocks...
Some beautiful batik fabric that I would enjoy playing with...
And this is what was created!

Pillow Front & Back.

Didn't realize how dark it was in the room until I looked at the pictures below.  Still, love the way the quilting shows above ;)

I've always loved the look of the traditional Dresden Plate block and the Disappearing Hourglass is fast becoming a favorite of mine.

Here's a quick run through of my process:

iHeart for Mom ;)

Here's a very traditional look made from my iHeart Quilt pattern.
I made this for my Mom.
She LOVES pink and flowers so this fabric was just right for her.

The machine quilting was lovingly done by my dear friend

Lisa filled my Mom's quilt with even more love with all to the free hand hearts!!  Beautiful, just beautiful!

I handed this quilt over to Lisa and said 'do what you think'
and the quilt was returned to me with the beautiful quilting.
(Unfortunately I washed the quilt before taking pictures)
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Lisa
I LOVE the quilting and so does Mom!

This quilt measures 72"x72" - the largest size for the pattern.
I used cotton for the front and flannel for the backing as Mom's always cold and I wanted the quilt to be a BIG surrounding HUG!

If you are interested this pattern is available:

60 down & a change of plans....

As the title says....

This is an update on My Freemotion Quilting Sampler Quilt(ssss).

Now that I have completed the first 6 blocks I am rethinking the project.  Here are the first blocks laid out.

This measures 51" across and my new plan is to make it 3x3 which will finish 51" square and be perfect for the end of the beds at camp.  As the original layout of 10 fabrics stacked and cut = 10 fabrics per blocks/10 blocks, the orphan block will be made into a pillow!

This is the current thought on using binding to connect the blocks and around the outside.

Once this quilt and pillow are complete it will be on to the next 100 of Leah Day's Freemotion Designs - just beginning to formulate my next project using 101-200!!

Visit my My Freemotion Quilting Sampler Quilt page for links to each block.

Have a quilty day!

Here's another block done for My Free Motion Sampler Quilt.
First series: 6 blocks done, 3 to go (4 counting the pillow)

Block 6 -Front:
 and the Back:
#55 Wheat in the Wind was my favorite on this block.

#52 Spider Web took up residence in the center....

Think I need to make something for Halloween so I can quilt it with this!
Great design feature.

Here is a link to Leah Day's Freemotion Quilting project where you can find over 400 designs!
These are the 10 I used on this block.

WIP Wednesday!

Not a lot to show this week as I am working on my secret Creative Conglomeration piece which is due March 31st and finishing up my Mom's birthday present.
Secrets.... Secrets...

Here are a couple of blocks that I made up for the NHMQG's March meeting.  The BOM was Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild’s Circle of Friends Block February 2014.
You can find the tutorial here:

I played with my new love - low volume then also made one to go with the set I have worked on so far. This makes block number 11.

Showing the BOM at Guild.
It's a quick and easy block - give it a try!

Here's a little sneak peak of my CC creation....

That's about 1 inch high.....

More on this next week!

Tote bag for Mom ;)

I recently made my Mom a tote bag with her favorite color - pink!
Yes, the straps are VERY pink!!
I like the length on these straps :)
Much better than the last bag I made - what a difference 9" makes!.

The outside has a quilted pocket on the front and
checkerboard patch throughout.
It has a parachute buckle to lock it together.. as well as 2 clips to hang your keys, etc. on (not shown)..
Here's the inside lining and 5 inside pockets.

The outside is quilted with a cross pattern.
There is Pellon 809 Decor-Bond® stabilizer that is quilted through.
I wasn't happy with how well the quilting showed up.
Plan to use a layer of batting in between on my next bag.

Here's a detail of the quilting on the front pocket.
This has a layer of batting  and I love how it showed the stitches.
A walking foot was used for all the quilting on this project.
What have you been working on lately??

A wonderful day in New England with Lee Heinrch of Freshly Pieced!

Saturday my MQG - New Hamsphire Modern Quilt Guild was delighted to present Lee Heinrich of Freshly Pieced
As I was getting ready to head to the event my husband said he hadn't seen me this excited in ages. I have followed Lee on her blog "Freshly Pieced" and linked up with her WIP Wednesday as well and couldn't wait to meet her and see all of her quilts up close.

Lee brought many of her wonderful quilts and gave a background on herself, how she got into quilting and modern quilting and so much more.
It proved to be a very inspiring afternoon!
(Rene' and I got to handle all the quilts!!! :)

(Thanks Susie for taking the pics!)

After Lee spoke she spent time answering questions and signing books while her beautiful quilts were displayed for everyone to get a close look at.

It is especially fun to meet someone you have admired from a far and find them even more interesting in person!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!

Playing in EQ7

Michael Miller has issued a challenge to have blocks designed with their Fiesta fabric!
 (You can add one fabric)
http://doyoueq.com/project_download_categories/fabric-downloads/

I used EQ7 to design this block. Fun to play with the tools!
I used the Block:Serendipity:Fancy Star Block to create this entry.

This is the block the I've created and I'm testing colors....

Got 2 votes for the Black star...
Thoughts?!?
Thanks for your help!!
